Back Home Chapter 22

We are back in Barnacle Bay.  The police have made arrangements for us to stay in temporary housing, until we can find something more permanent.  The house is small, just having 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, but it is clean and has a nice yard.

We arrive late at night and don’t have time to unpack or anything, we are completely exhausted.  We all fall in to bed and go straight to sleep.  The girls room is pretty sparse, they installed a couple bunkbeds in the room, but the girls toys and clothes haven’t arrived yet.  They did try to pretty the room up with a little rug, but that’s all that is in there.

The next morning I go enroll the girls in school. No sense in wasting time, we may as well get a routine going.  The girls will start school tomorrow. It is hard letting them go by themselves, but they are really excited to make some new friends. I’m glad they have each other, but I’m sure they get tired of only playing with each other.

The girls get on the school bus in the morning and off to school they go!  I think they look a little nervous, but they swear they aren’t. It is hard to let them go, but I have bigger things on my mind. I’m not feeling too well this morning.  I guess we all know what that means!

I run back to the house and into the bathroom. Oh, this can’t be good. We were talking about adding to the family, but not quite so soon. I really wanted to get settled in the new house first.

I start organizing the house, Rob is out putting a playground together for the girls in the backyard.  I work on some landscaping and putting some touches on the inside. I want to make this feel like home. We are wanting to build a house. We loved all the house styles we seen in France, once we find some land, we will get to building the house. Of course, that will take time. I’m not sure we will be in the house before the baby gets here. I’ll have to break the news to Rob.

Of course, Rob was so happy!  He loves being a father and is so supportive. I couldn’t ask for a better dad to my kids! By the time the girls got home from school, Rob had finished the playground. It isn’t as big as the one they had in France, but it is really nice.  The girls will love it.

He also read the girls a story after they played outside.  Like I said, he’s a great dad.

Later that evening, Rob and I enjoyed some time outside looking at the stars.

Time passes quickly with the girls in school and Rob back to work in the Military field, he’s due a promotion any day now.  He will be an astronaut and only have to work 1 day a week. I’ve taken a leave of absence from my career in cooking, the restaurant is being great. They have told me to take as much time as I need and I’ll have a job when I’m ready to start back. Probably after the baby is born, I  may go back part time.  Before I know it, it is almost time for the baby to arrive. We buy a small crib for our room, space will be tight till we get moved. I’m not quite as big as last time, so here’s to hoping for one baby!  We’d love to have a boy this time.

  1. I’m glad they made it back safely. I just have such a bad feeling that their happiness will be shattered soon. 😦 Here’s hoping for a boy. Hope she was eating some apples. LOL
